Class Exercise B - Criticism Model

Description – A verbal account of WHAT is there.

A picture of an Avatar character holding a Macdonald Burger with its 2 hands and attempting to eat it

Analysis – A discussion of HOW things are presented with an emphasis on relationships.

The picture emphasises on the Macdonald Burger, which is being eating by a popular movie character Avatar. This is done by putting the Burger nearest to the viewer’s sight at the centre and the burger is also made to stand out from the rest of the picture by using different representation.

Interpretation – A sense of the meaning, implication, or effect of the piece.

This is a form of advertisement that Macdonald burger is good as it is fancied by even famous characters such as Avatar.

Judgement – Evaluating the successes and shortcomings of the piece.

One look at the picture, one would noticed that the picture is edited and the Avatar character is not really eating the burger. This can be seen by various factors:

1. 1. The expression on the character’s face doesn’t imply that it is eating something. It suggests an angry face instead.

2. 2. The blue colour tones of the hands and the face of the character are significantly different, suggesting that the picture is edited.

3. 3. The image of the burger also doesn’t match with the rest of the picture.
